Gulf States Saw & Machinery Co., Inc. bookletmakers, finishing systems, and bookletmakers are known for their speed and versatility. The Sprint series models are well-respected in the print finishing sector for their reliability and performance. The SF2 bookletmaker is a revolutionary use of wire-fed stitching technology, previously available only in larger systems that can cost up to threefold more.

Mass finishing can be done either dry or wet with a centrifugal bar tumbler. Wet processes employ a liquid cleaner, lubricant, or abrasive while dry processes don't. Each barrel holds approximately 50-80% capacity.

The 2000-Series machines were designed with higher production requirements in mind. They are designed to handle such applications as deburring, slag grinding, calibrating/dimensioning, edge radiusing, paint/surface preparation, finishing/polishing or a combination of these applications.

Gulf States Saw & Machinery Co., Inc. is a manufacturer of mass finishing products. This means that you not only get a machine, but also a package that will be hassle-free. Gulf States Saw & Machinery Co., Inc.'s in-house manufacturing of mass finishing media and mass finishing equipment, as well as our trained service and application technicians, spare part and waste water recycling, and reline service make Gulf States Saw & Machinery Co., Inc. mass final equipment a sustainable and comprehensive solution for customers.

Material Finishing Machines Surface

Mass finishing using a centrifugal tumbler barrel can be done wet or dry. Wet processes may use a liquid solvent, cleaner, or abrasive. Dry processes do not. Each barrel can be filled with approximately 50 to 80% of its capacity using the following elements:

Barrel tumblers make sliding friction using rotary movement combined with abrasive, tumbling media. Imagine you are putting rocks in an old barrel and rolling it up a hill. As the parts slide on the media, or against each other part, deburring or polishing happens.

Don’t forget the detergent. You might think that cleaning compound was intended for the metal parts, but in fact the tumbling media needs it. Cleaning compound adds lubricity to keep the pores open in the tumbling media. Once the pores in tumbling media become glazed over, the cutting action of the tumbling media will no longer work and metal parts turn out black. If the parts come out black, you forgot to put in the soap.

Use of a deburring machine also contributes to worker safety, since it reduces the risk of repetitive motion injury such as carpal tunnel syndrome associated with deburring and polishing by hand. The centrifugal barrel machine is far more ergonomic than handwork. While centrifugal tumblers do require operators to load each barrel manually, the high speed of the machine makes up for this labor intensity.

Spray Finishing

Tumbler media, which is used for mass finishing, grinds away the burrs on metal surfaces and cuts them. There are many types of tumbler media.

We have clients who depend on our metalworking machines in a wide range of industries.

Centrifugal barrel finishing machines can perform each of these three types of work, also called steps. Depending on surface finishing specifications for your product, not all steps may be necessary. Your process might include a single step, two steps, or three steps.

Our dry-metal machines are available to industries in metalworking, woodworking and plastics. It allows for more uniform and effective finishing processes. To help our customers achieve the best finish, we distribute our products across North America.

Material Finishing Machines Bad

There are so many options, it can be difficult to choose the right media. Use of incorrect media can cause serious problems like media sticking to the part or causing damage.

Are you frustrated by flat parts Flat parts such washers pose the biggest challenge in centrifugal barrel finish. They can stick to or wick together on the barrel sides, so only one side is deburred. Add glass bead blasting media into the centrifugal-barrel finishing process. The beads coat parts so that they won't stick together or to the barrel. Glass beads are also great for parts that may be difficult to separate.

Frequently Asked Questions

Metal finishing aids in the reduction of wear and tear on metallic products. Aside from aesthetics, it has a wide range of industrial applications. It helps to improve electrical conductivity, torque resistance, and metal solderability, among other things.

Finishing processes can be used to improve the following characteristics: appearance, adhesion or wettability, solderability, corrosion resistance, tarnish resistance, chemical resistance, wear resistance, hardness, modify electrical conductivity, remove burrs and other surface flaws, and control surface friction.

Finishing mortars and concretes; natural and artificial masonry materials; decorative ceramics; materials and items made of wood, paper, glass, plastic, and metals; and paints and varnishes are the most common finishing materials used in modern construction.
